How IELTS Speaking practice works on LingaLive
- 01
Pick a short set or a full interview
Short sets let you rehearse one part in a few minutes. The full interview runs all three parts back to back.
- 02
Speak your answers
Record each answer in your browser. You get a preparation minute before the Part 2 long turn, just like the real test.
- 03
Read your feedback
Each answer is assessed against Fluency and Coherence, Lexical Resource, Grammatical Range and Accuracy, and Pronunciation.
The IELTS Speaking test is a face-to-face conversation of 11 to 14 minutes. Part 1 is a short interview on familiar topics such as home, work, study and hobbies. Part 2 gives you a cue card, one minute to prepare and up to two minutes to talk. Part 3 is a two-way discussion that moves from your own experience to wider, more abstract ideas.
Most candidates in Bangladesh get few chances to speak English at test speed with someone who marks them honestly. Practising aloud, on a timer, is the fastest way to find out whether your answers are long enough, organised and natural before exam day.

Opening of a band 7 answer
I’d like to talk about my English teacher from college, Mr Rahman. He taught me for two years, and honestly, he’s the main reason I stopped being afraid of speaking in front of people.
What made him different was that he never laughed at a mistake. Instead, he’d ask us to try the sentence again and then show us a more natural way to say it. Over time, I noticed I was thinking in English instead of translating from Bangla in my head.
Why this works: it answers every bullet on the card, uses natural linking (“what made him different”, “over time”) and gives a specific reason rather than a general claim. Aim to keep talking for the full two minutes.

The four criteria your Speaking answers are marked on
Each criterion carries equal weight, and your overall Speaking band is the average of the four. LingaLive reports on all of them so you know what to fix first.
- Fluency and Coherence
- Speaking at length without long pauses, and linking ideas logically. Answers that are too short cannot show this.
- Lexical Resource
- The range and precision of your vocabulary, including natural collocations and paraphrase.
- Grammatical Range and Accuracy
- A mix of simple and complex structures, used with few errors that get in the way.
- Pronunciation
- Clear individual sounds, word stress, rhythm and intonation that a listener can follow easily.
Frequently asked questions
Can I practise IELTS Speaking online for free?
Yes. You can try a free sample from this page without signing up. Create a free account to save your progress and unlock more practice sets.
Does the practice follow the real IELTS Speaking format?
Yes. It uses the same three parts: a Part 1 interview, a Part 2 cue card with preparation time, and a Part 3 discussion.
How long is the IELTS Speaking test?
The real test lasts 11 to 14 minutes. Part 1 takes about 4 to 5 minutes, Part 2 about 3 to 4 minutes including preparation, and Part 3 about 4 to 5 minutes.
Is this suitable for candidates in Bangladesh?
Yes. LingaLive is built for IELTS candidates in Bangladesh, with topics and feedback that reflect common problems such as short answers and Bangla-influenced phrasing.
How is my Speaking band estimated?
Your answers are assessed against the four official criteria and combined into an estimated band. It is a practice estimate, not an official IELTS result.
